This is an article that I wish I could write as if it were past tense:
7 Insane (Female) Beauty Myths People Used to Believe as Facts
1. You have to be super thin to be healthy and beautiful, preferably with bones showing and a physique of solid muscle
2. Beauty is homogenous and looks like certain traits and features of one particular dominant cultural ideal
3. Beauty is only about the way that you look, not how you feel and who you are as a human being
4. Beauty requires effort and lots of alterations to how you naturally look
5. Beauty is anything at all that is prescribed by any culture but occurs naturally and shows up in diverse forms just like the diversity of the natural world around us
6. Beauty is only found in youth, not in aging women
7. Beauty is something we can all agree upon and is objective
My fervent prayer: Someday my goddess sisters, everyone will wake up and all agree, beauty cannot be objectified. And we will know what real beauty is.
