sex-feet-bedI don’t know, I guess it depends on what you are doing in the gym or the bedroom… 😉

But one thing I will say and that I know for sure is this: which activities are you likely to do more of? THOSE are the ones that will burn the most calories.

Common sense yes?

But we tell ourselves we are supposed to do this or that thing that we really don’t want to do and then never do it.

It’s a pleasure deprivation game.

Now if you love the gym and have no problem going, great! Go! Enjoy. This article probably isn’t for you.

I’m talking about the harsh, beat ourselves into the ground and make ourselves wrong mentality that I see so many people live by. In my experience, while at times this way of thinking gets the job done, it often leaves people miserable anyway and unable to sustain healthy habits in the long run.

How about the healthy habit of enjoyment? Pleasure? Balance? Being kind to ourselves?

I know, not as sexy but much more enjoyable. 🙂

So here is the exercise that I recommend doing: the one you will do.

So there you have it. Expert advice right there.

No really, think about it.

What is something you will actually enjoy doing and get out and do on a regular basis?

For some it is dancing or all those dance classes at the gym. For some yoga or hiking. Whatever it is, do it.

The focus on what we hate just manifests more hate right? Finding pleasure in daily activities is the key to lasting health changes.

Here are some other great ways to explore pleasure:

1. Slow down when you eat. Chew your food… take your time and enjoy what you are eating. You might find you actually don’t enjoy that overly sweet, processed meal if you slow down and take the time to taste it fully. I wonder? What fully nourishes us deeply becomes pleasurable when we really feel what we are doing to ourselves. So take the time to do that.

2. Don’t eat when stressed. If you are too stressed and it is meal time, find something to do before eating that is calming. Even taking a few deep breaths, a few minutes of tapping, doing a brief yoga pose or stretching can all be good ways to quickly focus and relax.

3. LOVE yourself and food. No really. I’m serious. People always think I’m crazy when I talk about this. But why not? Who is stopping you from doing this one free thing that you really can do? The only question becomes not HOW to love ourselves and food, no. The question is why don’t we love ourselves and food and work backwards from there… Love and appreciation for our meals, no matter what they are produces nourishment.

4. Realize weight loss is so often about stress. Stress is fattening so discovering and releasing as much of it in every way we can will dramatically increase pleasure in our bodies. Though this is a lifelong journey, it is one worth taking. Less is more in this way of thinking too. Taking a bath, getting a good night’s sleep and balancing hormones if required is the way to bliss instead of that 2 hour work out.

You are a goddesses! Eat like one. Love yourself like you mean it.
